The purpose of the Auxiliary Operations program is to assist the Coast Guard in all activities except their military or law enforcement duties. These activities include:

  • Safety Patrols by surface vessels during periods of high levels of recreational boating
  • Training and Support of Homeland Security efforts
  • Perimeter security for regattas and marine parades
  • Search and Rescue missions by both vessels and aircraft facilities
  • Verification of Aids to Navigation and charts
  • Radio watchstanding in support of both Auxiliary and Coast Guard activities.
Tide Predictions
Here is one nice site for Tide Information. This defaults to Hagley Landing but you can select other sites. Scroll down to Prediction Options. My favorite is Select display type: Graphic Plot. It plots a multi-color graph for the days you selected.
NOAA provides Tide Predictions. This site provides high and low tides for the whole year NOAA Tide Predictions 2006.
The NOAA preditions don't print conveniently. Here are those predictions in pdf format which print each month on a separate page.
You can choose to print the month you want. NOAA Tide Predictions 2006, one month per page.
Flotilla 12-10 In Action
Training

Kerry and his Crew conducted two boat drills with the 41 footer from Station Georgetown. Flotilla 12-10 and Station Georgetown often conduct training together such as this; averaging about twice a week at times. The Auxilary benefits greatly from the these exercises and Station Georgetown tells us that they appreciate our participation. (Plus it is lots of fun.)
Forrest and his Crew were on patrol the same day the picture above was taken. While waiting for Kerry to finish with the 41 footer, they spotted a small boat tied to a dolphin, Marker 94. That is against the law for recreational boats so Forrest motored over to ask them to move on. This is what they found.

As you can see, Coasties were replacing one of the day boards that Hurricane Charlie had "eaten." Fortunately, we recognized the Coast Guard boat before saying anything and just waved.
Replacing Marker
Regatta Flotilla 12-10 provided two boats and crew for Regatta Patrol at the Bucksport Power Boat Races in June. Everything went smoothly and the support was appreciated by the sponsors and by Coast Guard Station Georgetown. The members who participated were thanked by name in a letter of commendation from the Station Chief.

Reminder: EPERB required board for patrols.
An EPIRB must be on board your Operational Facility in order to go on patrol after June 1, 2004.
As far as we know, every Operational Facility in Flotilla 12-10 has received a PEPRIB. However, if you DO NOT have an EPIRB and plan to go on patrol, it suggested that you borrow one.

Members of Flotilla 070-12-10 only

Would you like to go on Patrol? Most coxswains are more than happy to have flotilla members join them on patrol. We have a plan to match your available days with scheduled patrols. Contact Forrest M. if you are not aware of how this works. It is conducted via secure e-mail, not via the web. You can, of course, make your own arrangements -- we just want to make sure that no one misses out.
