Among our flotilla offerings to the public are Boating Safety classes, Vessel Safety Checks and Safety Patrols. Follow the 'Vessel Examination' link for Vessel Safety Checks.

We offer classes titled "About Boating Safety" (ABS) and "Basic Skills and Seamanship" (BS&S).

Our last ABS course was offered November 1, 2008 (Saturday) from 9am to 5 pm, with a lunch break. The cost was $30 per person which included a textbook and many supplemental materials. It took place at Coast Guard Station Georgetown, SC. The course is repeated periodically. You can see the details of this course, and similar Boating Safety courses, at BoatingSafety.ws. (Remember this site as 'Boating Safety web site'.)

The more advanced course, Boating Skills and Seamanship will be offered when there is sufficient interest. Let us know if you are interested.

Please note that a variety of advanced courses are offered free to members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Among these six courses are Advanced Navigation, Seamanship and Communications. After taking a Boating Safety class, you may want to find out more about joining the Auxiliary.

You can send an e-mail to any of our Staff Officers.   Our Public Education Officer is in charge of the Boating Safety classes.

Here are some scenes from previous Boating Safety classes.
